2010 Honoree - Charlie Morrison

Louis F. Schultz Distinguished Service Award

In his career as an auctioneer, Morrison conducted over 4,000 public auctions. As his reputation and success became known in the community Morrison, realized he could use his skills to benefit others. His unique brand of humor, persuasion and drawing out bids was put to use in charity and fundraising events. He conducted the highly successful “Taste of the Rogue” event for the Boys and Girls Club for several years, totaling over $800,000 in proceeds. He also called local auctions for Zonta International, Rotary, the Active Club, Ducks Unlimited, Rogue Community College, Women’s Medical Clinic, Oregon Hunters Association and St. Anne’s Catholic Church.

Morrison’s commitment to the community was again evident when he was approached about the need for a Little League baseball field and community park. He donated 8.4 acres of commercial property on Rogue River Highway that is now developed into ball fields and other facilities known as Morrison Centennial Park.

“Charlie and my friend and law partner Lou Schultz, after whom the award was named, shared a friendship in this community spanning decades,” said former Four Way board member Jim Dole comments. “One thing they had in common, which Charlie has always exhibited, was a deep commitment to improving this place for future generations. They did so with quiet grace and great humor, which I have always admired.”
