2024 Honoree - Dr. Bruce Murray
Louis F. Schultz Distinguished Service Award
An internist at the Grants Pass Clinic for 27 years, Dr. Bruce Murray has spent his “vacations” providing care to refugees and teaching in East Africa, Greece, and Bangladesh. As a volunteer for Rogue Retreat, he saw that our own unhoused neighbors were experiencing similar medical issues as displaced persons elsewhere. That led him to help establish MINT, delivering desperately needed health care to people in rough-living situations. He and his team have now established Parker’s Place to provide care, rest, and resources to the people here who have the least.
“I am truly humbled and honored to be recognized, especially when I look at the previous honorees who have received this award,” said Dr. Murray. “I love this community; for the past 35 years it has meant everything to me, my wife, Caroline Brown, and our son Ben. And special thanks to the Four Way Community Foundation for supporting a wide variety of people and groups who have made this community a better place to live for so many. “
