2007 Honoree - Lois Gates

Louis F. Schultz Distinguished Service Award

The generosity and commitment to community service of Lois Gates has been felt throughout Grants Pass for decades and touched the lives of thousands. She has given of her time, talent and funds in so many ways that it is difficult to summarize, let alone measure the positive impacts. Gates was a founding sponsor of the YMCA. She has also been a driving force in the RCC Foundation for over twenty years. She made significant contributions to the creation of both the Reinhart Volunteer Park and the Morrison Centennial Park. Her efforts over the years have been a tremendous help to Family Friends, the Boys & Girls Club of Grants Pass and the Rotary Duck fund. When the community joined forces to build first the grandstand and then the Performing Arts Center at Grants Pass High School, again, Gates was there. “Lois Gates is a modest woman with a huge heart,” says former Four Way board member Ann Bauer.
