Executive Director

Walter Slater 1Walt Slater was named the new Four Way Community Foundation executive director in August 2015. HeĀ is a professional fundraiser with 25 year of experience in planned giving, capital campaigns, grant writing, special events and non-profit volunteer and board development.

Slater moved to Grants Pass in 2002 from southern California. His work history includes serving as development officer for the Elizabeth Hospice in Escondido; executive director of the Home of Guiding Hands Foundation, Lakeside; and a planned-giving consultant for the Magdelena Ecke YMCA in Encinitas.

He also worked in the California Legislature for a state senator, served on the La Mesa City Council, owned and managed a retail travel agency, and served in the U.S. Air Force as a combat pilot during the Vietnam era.

He has been a member of the Grants Pass Rotary Club since 2002 and was a Rotarian in San Diego County for 20 previous years. Slater has two daughters, both living with their families on the East Coast. His wife, Pam, whom he married in 2003, is director of development at ACCESS, the community action agency of Jackson County. Between them they have 11 grandchildren.
